    Graduate Assistant - Career Coach for DBA

    Reporting to the Dean of the College of Business, and under the supervision of the KU Career Development Center, this position is a two-semester, 20 hour per week graduate assistantship with a stipend of $7500 ($3750 per semester) per year and tuition remission for 9 credits per semester. The Graduate Assistant (GA)  will assist in the development and delivery of programs and services, which support the mission and goals of  the College of Business, the Career Development Center, the Division of Academic Affairs, and the University.

    Experience in Career Development will provide a GA with a clear understanding of the career development process, and will further develop counseling, administrative, technology, marketing, communications and organizational skills. Specific areas of responsibility include:

    A. Career Counseling/Coaching and Program Development

    1.     Provide career counseling/coaching for students related to major exploration, career direction/development, experiential learning, internship and job search strategies, social media, interviewing, and graduate school planning so they can create a career development plan

    2.     Assist with CDC Certificate Programs including marketing, tracking, and verification of requirements

    3.     Educate and assist students with internship process and paperwork

    4.     Assist students in crafting and refining resumes, cover letters and essays

    5.     Conduct mock interviews both in face-to-face and online formats (Big Interview)

    6.     Present workshops on various career topics

     B. Marketing and Administration

    1.     Utilize Handshake to assist students in internship and employment searches and resume uploads

    2.     Utilize Handshake to maintain accurate employer information and posting of opportunities

    3.     Assist professional staff in the preparation of reports, follow-up surveys, and data collection activities

    C.   Faculty and Employer Relations

    1.     Support and assist the research, coordination, and maintenance of employer partnerships and internship opportunities

    2.     Serve as a contact for employers interested in promoting internship opportunities and assist with connecting them to faculty

    3.     Serve as liaison with faculty in matters related to internship opportunities

    D.   Special Events and Services

    1.     Assist with the Fall & Spring Internship and Job Fairs

    2.     Assist with special career programs and events such as evening presentations in residence halls and student groups, class presentations, College of Business Networking Night, Mock Interview Mania Weeks, Employer/Industry panels and info sessions

    3.     Assist with special recruitment and retention activities as may be requested, including campus visitation and accepted student days
