    Graduate Assistant - Marketing and Special Events Coordinator

    Reporting to the Director of Career Development, this position is a two-semester, 20 hour per week graduate assistantship with a stipend of $7500 ($3750 per semester) per year and tuition remission for 9 credits per semester. The Graduate Assistant (GA) will assist in the development and delivery of programs and services, which support the mission and goals of the Career Development Center, the Division of Academic Affairs, and the University.

    Experience in Career Development will provide a GA with a clear understanding of the career development process, while they further develop their counseling, administrative, technology, marketing, communications and organizational skills. Specific areas of responsibility include:

    1. Career Counseling and Program Development
      1. Learn effective career counseling approaches and their application.
      2. Provide career counseling for students related to major exploration, career development/experiential learning, internship and job search strategies, social media, interviewing, and graduate school planning
      3. Assist students in the interpretation and evaluation of assessment instruments, using the Holland Code, such as the Kuder Journey
      4. Present weekly workshops on various career related topics
      5. Assist with Quick-Question Walk-in Hours and the Review Service (resumes, cover letters,     essays, and mock interviews)
    2. Marketing and Administration
      1. Assist with Certificate Programs including marketing, tracking, and verification of requirements, for CDC and faculty
      2. Create and implement the office’s social media plan and schedule (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest)
      3. Assist staff in marketing office events and services to students and faculty through targeted emails, social media, etc.
      4. Create & distribute student e-newsletters– CareerConnect, FR/SO, and Graduate Students and targeted emails for special office events
      5. Assist professional staff in the preparation of reports, follow-up surveys, and data collection activities
    3. Special Events and Services
      1. Coordinate the Graduate School Fair
      2. Coordinate staffing for the Graduate Festival table each semester
      3. Assist with special programs and events such as evening presentations in residence halls and other student groups, class presentations, internship & job fairs, and employer sessions
      4. Assist with special recruitment and retention activities as may be requested, including campus visitation and accepted student days
    4. Professional Development
      1. Participate in professional development activities and attend trainings and workshops
      2. Participate in staff meetings and planning sessions
    5. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Director and Assistant Directors
