Position summary. The Graduate AI Fellow/Graduate Assistant serves as the lead student builder and project coordinator for the AI Design and Development Studio. Working under the supervision of the designated university administrator, the Fellow supports the design, development, testing, documentation, and demonstration of AI-enabled tools, dashboards, and workflow solutions for Kutztown University.
Primary responsibilities. The Graduate AI Fellow will: coordinate day-to-day Studio work; assist with project scoping and sprint planning; build and test prototypes using Python, AI APIs, analytics tools, automation platforms, or related development environments; mentor undergraduate team members; maintain project documentation; support stakeholder meetings and demonstrations; and help ensure that projects remain aligned with approved content sources, project goals, and practical guardrails.
Required qualifications. Enrollment in a graduate program at Kutztown University or another approved graduate program if institutional hiring policies allow; strong interest in AI, analytics, workflow design, or digital product development; demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: Python programming, API integration, data analysis, dashboard development, web application development, prompt engineering, or low-code/no-code tools; strong written and oral communication skills; and the ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines.
Preferred qualifications. Experience building generative AI tools or retrieval-based assistants; familiarity with Power BI or comparable data visualization tools; experience with GitHub or other version control environments; knowledge of user-centered design; and prior experience leading student teams or collaborative projects.
Work parameters. Recommended appointment: 20 hours per week (tuition and stipend included) during the academic year, with possible summer continuation based on funding and project needs. The Fellow reports to the Vice Provost & Dean of Graduate Studies and serves as the lead student coordinator within the Studio. Direct question to Melissa Lincoln - lincoln@kutztown.edu.
