    The mission of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is to prepare students to achieve their academic goals, to access and critically examine increasingly complex sources of information, to take an active role in their society and world, and to commit themselves to lifelong learning.     Graduate Assistantship Position

    The Kutztown University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is offering a graduate assistantship beginning fall 2022 in the Dean’s Office, Graduate Center. This position would be for 300 hours/semester (20 hours/week) and requires enrollment of 9 or more graduate credits/semester.  It provides a tuition waiver and a stipend of $3,750/semester. 

    The successful candidate is responsible for providing assessment support to the Dean’s Office, including but not limited to:

    • Entering data into an assessment system
    • Analyzing report data
    • Creating Excel spreadsheets and data charts, and
    • Writing reports/narratives

    Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is helpful. Students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences are preferred, but other graduate students will be considered.

    Graduate Assistantship Details

    How will the graduate assistantship provide the student with experience related to their program of study?

    The student will improve their understanding of assessment processes and organizational communication. They will gain experience synthesizing and documenting data. These skills are helpful in graduate programs that require analysis and synthesis. Assessment is especially relevant to students in education, social work, and counseling, while the critical thinking and communication skills utilized in this position are relevant across disciplines.


    How will the duties of the proposed graduate assistantship contribute to Kutztown University and its mission?

    Student learning outcomes assessment is important to the university’s mission “to provide a high-quality education at the undergraduate and graduate levels in order to prepare students to meet lifelong intellectual, ethical, social, and career challenges.” While the main purpose of student learning outcome assessment is to engage in continuous improvement of pedagogy and curricula, documenting the work that is also important to Middle States accreditation.


    Describe the research or experiential learning opportunities available to the student through proposed graduate assistantship.

    The student will gain experience with assessment processes, professional communication, and the use of multiple software platforms used in higher education and other workplaces.
